Now that you have been enabled for a Teams phone number, wouldn’t it be great if that number also called your mobile?
Sure, if you had the Microsoft Teams mobile app, the app would ring too. However, if you’re not in a good data network area, or perhaps conscious of your data plan, then this causes a problem.
Fortunately, there is a feature in Microsoft Teams called Simultaneous Ring.
As the name suggests, it allows your Teams client to also call out to another number e.g. your mobile number when it receives an inbound call.
The end result is that you will get a GSM call to your mobile whilst your Teams client is ringing and you can choose whether to answer on your mobile, or Teams.
This also works if you are signed out or away from your Teams client, which is a huge bonus and means that you can benefit from a single number contact point with your customers or coworkers.
Setting Up Simultaneous Ringing for Microsoft Teams
Go to Settings, click the ellipsis (…) next to your avatar at the top right of the client and select Settings, then click on the calls tab.
Under call answering rules, select “Calls Ring Me” and then choose “New Number or Contact” from the drop down menu on Also Ring action.
Enter your mobile phone number and that’s it!
